Grilled Art Frying Pans

Put anything from your logo, artwork or the image of Jesus on a grilled cheese sandwich

Artist Tim Pahs created the Holy Grail of frying pans by making a cast Grilled Cheese Jesusiron skillet with the image of Jesus from the Shroud of Turin cast into it. When a grilled cheese or almost anything else is cooked, the image of Jesus or a logo on pan appears on the surface. Pahs is selling the original Shroud of Turin frying pan with Jesus' image, a grilled cheese sandwich with Jesus, t-shirts and other items.

Custom frying pans with a company logo are also available. A restaurant could serve grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes, and other items with their company logo grilled on them. Contact for a price estimate.

The "Shroud Frying Pan" is Pop Art, in which the subject matter is familiar images like advertising icons, things in the media and images common in the popular culture of the era. When Andy Warhol made the Soup Can prints, he was not specifically endorsing one particular brand or flavor of soup, but showing an everyday object in a new perspective. The Shroud Frying Pan is not meant to be religious or anti-religious, but is social commentary on how our culture is using religious icons, and religious subject matter in new ways including books, movies, e-bay auctions and commercialism. Discuss your opinions on art, freedom of artistic expression, religion and other topics on the message boards.

Pahs began making the pan, by sculpting it out of wax and clay by hand. The inside of the pan has Jesus' image, the outside of the pan has a shroud like cloth texture embossed in the cast iron, and his signature is etched on the bottom of the pan. He then made a sand mold of the frying pan, and poured 2400 degree F molten metal in the form. It is made of 100% post consumer use recycled iron. Although the frying pan is functional and safe for everyday cooking, it has been displayed as a work of art at the Pump House Regional Arts Center in La Crosse, WI.

Tim Pahs grew up in a Roman Catholic family, attending private Catholic schools for 12 years. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with an art degree and has taught computer art classes there. Pahs is currently working as a commercial artist and exhibits his artwork at galleries.
